FASCINATORS

Fascinators are fabulous. They take all the fun bits of a hat- the decorative, interesting parts- and ignore the actual hat part. Think feathers and flowers, lace and ribbon, and nothing more. That means they won't squash your carefully coiffed hairdo and you don't need to take them off when you come inside. They can be worn as part of a Saturday night vintage fashion statement or with a formal dress at a wedding. Although they have a very 1920s feel, fascinators are making a comeback in no uncertain terms. They were worn (controversially in some cases) at the last British Royal wedding. They've been banned from certain high-class occasions and welcomed at others, and are popping up all over the place now. At house parties, in goth clubs, and even in everyday fashion, fascinators are turning heads and drawing appreciative glances. While most of the fascinators in our shop are bought as burlesque accessories, they don't need to be consigned to the wardrobe between performances. Wearing one can bring a touch of the risqué and interesting to any outfit. A simple day dress can be transformed into a vintage statement and any old 'little black dress' can be spiced up with one of these. They can either be attached with a hairpin or a headband. The latter is a bit sturdier if you plan to be dancing in your fascinator, or if it's big and bold rather than a tiny flash of added interest. Some styles also have an extra pin and can double up as a broach.
